November Update

Students have worked very hard this past month as they completed their Fall fitness challenges!  All students in grades 3-5 ran 1 mile and participated in the sit and reach, curl-up, and upper body tests!  I am really proud of their perseverance and effort!  We will revisit these same challenges with the hope of improvement in the Spring. Even though students in K-2 did not participate in fitness testing, they worked extremely hard at understanding and demonstrating our four major fitness concepts: cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.  See if your child can explain them to you! This week, all students will begin their respective throwing and catching units in physical education and will begin nutrition in health.  K-2 students will work on healthy vs. sometimes healthy foods, will learn how to build a healthy meal, and will explore the food groups in MyPlate. Students in grades...

October Update

Good afternoon, As we near the start of October, I wanted to share what we'll be doing in both PE and Health. We just finished our cooperative challenges and bullying units.  Students did a great job showing teamwork, respect, inclusion, and sportsmanship. This month, we'll begin fitness in both PE and Health.  For students in grades 3-5, this means that we'll spend the month getting our baseline fitness scores in the mile, curl-ups, pull-ups/flexed arm hang, and sit and reach test.  The link below will take you to the curl up cadence if your child would like to practice his/her curl-ups to the rhythm of the music!  I hope to get the mile run in next week (weather-permitting) so make sure your child has a water bottle and dresses comfortably! Students in K-2 will also focus on fitness, but will also explore and refine their locomotor movements (running, walking, skipping, galloping, sliding, jumping, hopping, and leaping). Curl up cadence Have a great wee...
