Job well done!

I would like to commend the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students for all of their hard work during the Presidential Physical Fitness Challenge!  The 3rd graders recently completed their half mile run/walk and the 5th graders completed their mile run/walk!  They all did an outstanding job putting forth their best effort!  Students in 4th and 5th grade had a chance to earn either a Presidential (85th percentile) or National (50th percentile) Physical Fitness Award.  While students who earned awards should be congratulated, I encourage the students to focus on improvement between the Fall and Spring.  Enjoy the weekend!

Happy Spring!

Happy Spring! This week, students in K-5 finished their drug prevention units.  Next week, we will begin Human Growth and Development, our final health unit of the year!  All students also practiced the President's Physical Fitness Challenge this week and students demonstrated their flexibility in the sit and reach, their abdominal strength and endurance in the sit-ups, their upper body strength and endurance in the flexed-arm hang/pull-ups and their speed and agility in the shuttle run.  While students in K-2 are done with fitness testing until next year, students in 3-5 will record their official spring results next week!  Grade 3-5 students will also participate in the running component of the fitness test in a few weeks too!  While grade 3 students run/walk a half mile, students in grades 4 and 5 students do a full mile!  Have a great weekend! Ms. Michalos

Happy Vacation!

This month, students in K-5 have been busy learning about tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs in health and have been perfecting their volleying skills!  When we return from vacation, students in grades 3-5 will participate in a modified volleyball game! I hope everyone has a wonderful vacation!

March Update

Hello again! I'm proud to report that students in grades 3-5 raised $1,225 for the American Heart Association during Jump Rope for Heart!  What a great accomplishment!  This month, students in K-5 will be working on hockey skills in PE and will be talking about Safety and Injury Prevention in health.  I hope everyone had a great February vacation! Ms. Michalos

Jump Rope for Heart!

Today is our last day jumping for our annual Jump Rope for Heart community service project!   Students put forth a great effort to raise money for the American Heart Association’s fight against heart and blood vessel diseases.   They are truly heart heroes!   Thank you to everyone who participated and helped in this wonderful cause!

5th Grade Community Quilt

The fifth graders worked hard at creating their patches as part of the mental health lesson focusing on uniqueness!  Here is the finished product!
