May

Good Morning!

I hope everyone had a great April Vacation!  This month, students will begin their final health unit, Human Growth and Development. Students in Kindergarten will learn about growing and dental health; students in 1st grade will learn about their senses and will review dental hygiene; 2nd grade students will explore bones and muscles and will even put together and label a giant rubber skeleton; third grade students will learn about major body organs and the basic route of digestion; 4th grade students will learn about hygiene, emotional, social, and physical changes and will watch their specific portion of the puberty video (as outlined by the health letter that went home a few weeks ago); 5th grade students will learn about sun safety, hygiene, and will also watch their specific portion of the puberty video.

*As a reminder, the health letter that went home to 4th and 5th grade students is NOT a permission slip.  Please only return it if you do NOT want your child to participate in a specific lesson(s).  Thank you!

In PE, K-2 students will conclude their tennis units and then begin soccer!  3-5 students will also conclude their tennis units, but will begin their Spring Fitness Testing!  Just like in the Fall, students will be tested on abdominal strength, upper body strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance.  Weather permitting, students in grades 3-5 will participate in the ½ mile (3rd grade) or 1 mile (4th and 5th grade) challenge during the week of 4/28.  Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle and may bring a watch to help pace themselves!

Finally, the Parmenter 5K is rapidly approaching!  For more information, click below!
